The music in me!

Okay so the blog has been rather heavy on the music lately. Anyone who knows me I mean really knows me, knows I grew up in a musical household. My father influenced me with everything from Motown to Frank Sinatra to Stephen wolf to Brother Bob to Soca and calypso.

My mother and my Aunts filled in the blanks, show tunes, opera, classical music. Alas I don't create music I'm much better with the written word. I've rediscovered my love for the piano through getting ready to teach my kids how to play piano. Funny how that works.

I miss the emotions that used to pour out of me when I sat in front of that instrument. Long afternoons spent with the dogs sitting at my feet while I played. the freedom to pound on the keys or stroke them lovingly. Coaxing a melody out, sometimes haunting, sometimes angry. It made me feel free.

I didn't care if I passed a music exam I just wanted to be able to express myself. Funny how that now translates to writing. My mood is volatile these days. I routinely express my mood through music. Does music show your moods or do you use it to change it?

I was listening to my i pod yesterday and I felt particularly militant and the White Stripes Seven Nation army seemed to fit my mood. Enjoy.

I think it's great to instill in your kids an appreciation for music. My husband's tastes are so eclectic that he's turned me on to all sorts of stuff I'd have never tried.

Hey hon!! :-) I have to say that music usually changes my mood. For some reason, it puts me deeper into my story and characters. Now the strange thing is I rarely listen to it because that would require walking away from the keyboard to find something worth listening to. That's just not going to happen if I'm in the zone.

I lurve the White Stripes! Music definitely changes my mood, which can be good and bad :) Right now my soundtrack consists of Shakira's She Wolf which is perfect for my current WIP.
